Groove Juice is groovin' through the holidays.  Lots of good gigs this year including a Patriot's pregame party at Gillette Stadium!  It was a blast.

Been working on playing my electric upright lately.  Getting my bowing down will take some time but a lot of fun.  I'll be bringing it with me to most Groove Juice gigs so hopefully I'll see some of there!

I have a new cover band up and running to play smaller places that are not suitable for Groove Juice.  It's called the China Shop Bulls.  Features Kris Boynton of Cheap Voova (he is also Groove Juice's sub vocalist) on vocals, John Chebator of Dirty Situation/Groove Juice on guitar, Mike McLeavy of Groove Juice on drums, and me on bass.  We were able to put together about 80 tunes right away since we've all been doing this cover thing for a while.  Our first gig will be at the BBC Hyannis August 19th at 9:30 pm and second gig at the Deck in Plymouth on September 4th at 9:30 pm.  We figure on performing only a couple times a month so don't miss these dates.  There will be plenty of great jams on some of your favorite hits going back to the 60s up to today!

Groove Juice is in the studio working on some more originals. Ley Lynes is also in the studio (as we always are, lol) working on some new stuff too.  Lately I've been gigging with a new cab.  Aguilar GS410 to match my DB750.  Excellent tone, have got a lot of compliments on the sound.  I also rolled some tubes in my DB750 and it made it even better!  I'm thinking maybe another GS410 for big gigs.  8 10s sure would be nice!

Hmm, let's see, it's been a while since I've had a chance to write up hear.  Over the last few months I've been cleaning up my home studio a bit.  I still need to make a few room arrangements but I have converted a walk-in closet to a decent iso booth for vocals and guitar amps.  As far as gear, I picked up an M Audio Delta 1010 which sounds excellent.  I also picked up a Presonus Central Station with its optional Remote.  Both were very wise buys and quite affordable.  Next I want to pick up a few more mics.  We do have a cellist coming in to record some tracks for Ley Lynes and it would be nice to have an appropriate mic for that.  I'm thinking of picking up a Studio Projects C1 since they are quite affordable and well reviewed.  We'll see!  If I had the money I'd go for my fav, the mic I learned on, the famous Nuemann U87!  Maybe someday.

At any rate, Groove Juice is packed with gigs through next year and Ley Lynes is, as always, still pushing on.  We have a ton of material at this point in Ley Lynes.  So George and I are just focused on getting it all on tape.  Like said above, a cellist should be coming in soon for out latest tune.  Also, one of George's relatives is going to do Greek vocals on our tune titled Rumios.  We hope to bring Jeff Armstrong back in to lay down some drums for a bunch of new tracks as well.  So stay tuned!

The Groove Juice website is up at www.GrooveJuiceMusic.com.  We have been funking and rocking south of Boston and will be soon be booking into the city!  Our demo is in the works as well as some originals.  Visit our site and join our mailing list for all the info ;)

I've really been digging my Aguilar DB750 paired with a Bergantino AE410 at the Groove Juice gigs.  It has taken a couple decades to get this tone, lol.  For all you bass heads I highly recommend this combo.

Groove Juice has some new gigs coming up this fall and is currently working on our demo and press material!

Last month I decided it was best to leave Spank so I can focus on my family and prior musical commitments.  I had a great time with them and wish them the best :)

Over the last couple months I have been refreshing myself on the piano.   I picked up a Yamaha P 155 electric piano and it sounds fantastic.  I plan on playing it on Ley Lynes recordings soon!

For the gear heads out there, I've taken a big interest in Aguilar amps over the last year.  By the end of this week I will have 3 different setups completed.  First, an AG500SC into a Bergantino AE410 for small gigs/practices/or whenever I don't want to lug a heavy amp around.  Second, a DB659 preamp into a Crest CA9 poweramp into the Berg AE410 for recording.  I really dig the growly sound of the DB659 especially with Tung Sol Reissue tubes.  Third, a DB750 into the Berg AE410 which should have a tubey big bottom yet articulate tone.  I bet this will be the ultimate rig for my funk/jazz styles and the rock cover bands I play in but it won't be light, lol.  The DB750 arrives this week and I'm very excited to test it out.  Feel free to email me for reviews or comparisons.
